surfing miles from waves... |
|
|
first i wanna say quality thanx to kurt T. and kiteboard{guy)... i live in Ottawa and there's not really an epic LB scene here, so it's almost impossible to check out new gear. (hybrid's don't exsist!! NO HYBRIDS.) now i know a lot of true schooler's are thinkin' boo-hoo. truth is... i love all longboarding, but i'm a surfer looking to mimic surfing 100 percent... here on the miles of concrete wave throughout Ottawa.
i'm currently creating my own street surfer (had the f__kin' idea for 7 yrs... no chumpchange) for presonal gain... not for money.
so... i was wondering if anyone could help me find a few rides that suit what i'm after. what do think is the best surfing mimic out now?? Carveboard's surf stik looks pretty evil!! let me know what anyone thinks. i'm all about supporting other rider's and their companys so no worries on price.
Thanx to anyone and everyone who rides...
and again to Kurt T. and kiteboard{guy}... who the f__k am i gonna ask about this around here?? cheers brah |

Thanks alot chevy... i know hybrids arent regarded as the end alll be all of boarding, and they arent even widely carried in my area...
now.. if you're looking for a true surf inspired board... i really cant give u a true opinion on whats out there, only because i havent been able to fully try Carveboards, or flowboards, etc. But from the response i've gotten from my t-board... it's definetly a force to be wreckoned with..
hopefully this vid will shed a light on the surf nature of a t-board...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SbeyCBLpwc
the rider in this video got on this board only 3 min before i started rolling tape.
he's a local surfer from Nags Head, NC and he spent a better part of that day, just pumpin' around the parking lot of the Kiteboard center i filmed this at...
he was amazed at how nimble and easy he was able to pump... and that was on rough, flat terrain, picture long, mellow sloping hills, and doing hard cutbacks..
hope this helps man.. and keep me informed on your board creation, i would love to try it out when all is done.. _________________

sound... i rekon i'll flip a coin and go down the list.
been eye'n the surf stik for about a yr, seen a video a while back with brad gerlach chewing pavement on one!! if we ever meet this permission for a proper "piledrive to the face" as our mate nacho would say for not saving the site... caught up in the moment i guess.
the t-board looks like a pimpin' good time as well...
either way they'll both be in the quiver soon enough!
thanx again lads, i had a solid idea of what i was gonna go after but like i said before, other people's opinion's help, specially when they know what their talkin' about.
cheers mates'
....... i'll keep you updated on my board and upon completion one will be on it's way... werd? |

Yah. If it were me, I would 86 the beforementioned ideas.
Ive ridden those setups and for me they just didn't cut it.
This is what really did it.
I've been looking for the same feeling for years, and this is what does it.
I've ridden a carveboard wave, Standard T setup, Bmw Streetcarver, Revenge on a longboard,...this is what did it.
Revenge on the rear. Tierney on the front, with indies, on a high-end board.
I use Bones Swiss. They make a difference.
Good luck friend. _________________ Surf Colorado!

super stu quality setup broseph. quick question... where do you get just one tierney truck 'n' wheel? or even just the trucks 'n' wheels? i'm shaping my own boards so it i'd be nice to stay away from completes.
in the end whatever it takes to mimic wave riding on land so whenever you get a second if you wouldn't mind, there'd be quality in knowing how you went about getting your gear.
cheers again brah,

I think they cost about 40 usd for a single but I could be wrong.
Call Kurt Tierney at TierneyRides and He'll sell you a single.
I'm not sure what his price is exactly, but he'll work with ya.
You can get the number off the link for contact info on the Website.
click any of the "tierney" links above and you'll get there.
Lucks to ya mate.
Cheers.

sorry stu...
your revenge... type i or alpha ii ??
my boards are generous in width, so the alpha ii might be better for stability? you seem like the pro so let me know what you think when your not ripping.
cheers mate,

Alpha II's.
Yeah.
Better for carving on longer or wider boards.
I's are more for park and pipe/pools than for downhill carving or for sidewalk surfing on a longer/wider board.

i'll have to get back to you on that.
I'm out of town for the next few days out of internet contact.
I'll see about this when I get back.
Thanks,

Advice for learning to slide?
Wear plenty of pads until you dial it in.
Do they make an "Ass Pad"? ??? |
