They're probably the spammers' post. By the time you've checked the forums, they've been deleted. _________________ (\__/) Cheers,

Is there anything we can do about this?
It's happening almost every day.
sometimes with more than one reply.
So much so that I don't even check the reply unless it is a topic I just recently posted.
What about a waiting period on newly registered users?
Say 3 days, or 24 hours, long enough to make sure they are not a bot?
we could put an explanation on the sign up form. _________________ Surf Colorado!

yah, i saw at least 10 spam posts in the morning the other day; by the afternoon, when i revisted, they were all gone. the problem with having a 'waiting period' is, unless the system is totally automated, you're going to give our admins a lot more work than they already have. even then, the waiting period mightn't curb the spammers.
i thought of suggesting that maybe the admin should approve all new users (instead of the users doing it themselves -- you know, when you register, you have to confirm your registration via a link sent to your email?) but again, that's a bit more work...
stupid spammers! wanna bet they'll be spamming this thread, next? _________________ (\__/) Cheers,

That's a good idea.
Human approval would probably work.
Yeah, the waiting period would be good as an automatic system.
It wouldn't take too much work for a competent programmer to write.
But it would cost money. _________________ Surf Colorado!

You know, the thing about the human approval, is that they (the admins.) would work more on approvals, but less on deleting spam. It would probably even out, if not be more efficient. _________________ Surf Colorado!

we may have solved the problem.
Now all new memberships require Admin approval before they can post. _________________ Surf Colorado!
